Templates
How a new project starts: build type, starters, attachments and the plan step.
The Start Screen
A new project starts from one question — *What do you want to build?* — and a few controls around the prompt box:
- Website or Web App — the build type. Web App needs the Web App Builder plan; the toggle says so and offers the upgrade.
- Starters — one click fills the prompt for a common shape. For a website: Landing Page, Portfolio, Business Website, Blog. For a web app: CRM System, SaaS Dashboard, Marketplace, AI Chatbot. Two of them start from what you bring rather than from text: Spreadsheet to App and Video to App.
- Migrate — bring a project over from another builder instead of starting fresh.
- Attachments — drop images, videos, documents or code straight onto the card. A screenshot, a spreadsheet of real data or a recording of the tool you are replacing says more than a paragraph.
- Premium design — appends a curated design and motion brief, for a more polished first result.
- Project title — optional; leave it and one gets derived from your prompt.
Then Plan: the agent proposes what it will build before it writes anything. Correct it there, while it is still cheap.
Describing It Yourself
A starter is only a first line. The detail you add is what decides the result — see Writing Effective Prompts and Best Practices.
Design Inspiration
Reference known sites or styles in your prompt:
- "Stripe-style pricing page"
- "Notion-inspired dashboard"
- "Apple-style product showcase"
The AI understands these references and applies similar design patterns.
What the AI Generates
For every project, Airbuild creates:
- React components — Modular, reusable UI components
- Tailwind styling — Responsive, modern CSS
- File structure — Organized project layout
- Routing — Multi-page navigation (if needed)
- Responsive design — Works on desktop, tablet, and mobile
For a Web App project it also creates the backend side: FastAPI endpoints, a PostgreSQL schema with foreign keys and constraints, migrations, and authentication — plus test suites alongside the code. See Web App.
After Generation
Once the initial project is built, iterate with chat:
- Change any aspect of the design
- Add new sections or features
- Upload your own brand assets
- Connect integrations (database, GitHub, etc.)
