GitHub Copilot alternative

Copilot helps you write code. Airbuild ships the whole app.

These are different jobs: Copilot is an assistant inside a developer’s IDE. Airbuild is an AI coding tool that builds, tests, hosts and publishes complete applications from a prompt — usable without a developer, ownable by one.

GitHub Copilot is an in-IDE assistant for developers who write code by hand, deeply integrated with GitHub. Comparing it to Airbuild is less “which is better” and more “which job do you have”.

Copilot accelerates a developer who already owns an application: the human architects, runs, tests and deploys. Airbuild owns the whole loop itself: it plans the architecture, generates frontend, backend, database and tests, verifies every change with automated checks, and publishes to a live URL — with hosting and a managed database included for web apps.

The bottom line

Copilot makes developers faster inside a codebase they already own and operate. Airbuild covers the whole path: architecture, frontend, backend, database, tests and hosting. The result is a standard codebase your developers can keep working on in their own IDE — with Copilot, if they like. So it isn’t an either-or decision. Airbuild takes care of everything around the code.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Airbuild an alternative to GitHub Copilot?

Airbuild is an alternative to GitHub Copilot, but for a different job. Copilot assists a developer writing code in their IDE and assumes someone is sitting there. Airbuild builds, tests, hosts and publishes a complete application from a description — faster with a developer, possible at all without one.

Do I need to be a developer to use Airbuild?

You do not need to be a developer to use Airbuild. Describe what you need and the agent builds it, planning, code, tests and publishing included. Anyone who can program still gets a full, editable codebase in standard React and Python, can edit files directly and run their own tests alongside the generated ones.

Does Airbuild host and deploy the app, unlike Copilot?

Airbuild hosts and deploys the application, unlike Copilot: Copilot produces code in your IDE and stops there. Airbuild includes hosting, and for web apps a managed FastAPI backend and a PostgreSQL database of their own, then publishes the whole thing to a live URL in the EU with one click.

Do I own the code?

Yes, you own the code. Airbuild generates standard React and Python with no proprietary runtime, and on Website Builder Pro and above you connect your own GitHub repository, where AI changes are pushed in the background as ordinary commits. A runnable copy of your application therefore lives outside Airbuild, and you can run it anywhere.
